Alan Rowan has been a journalist for more than 40 years, working in Dundee, Aberdeen and on a variety of national newspapers in Glasgow. He held executive positions for 12 years on the Daily Record, including five years as sports editor. He is now semi-retired and spends his time tramping Scotland's hills and writing about the great outdoors for newspapers and magazines.

He has completed four rounds of Munros. In 2019, he also completed a Full House, which comprises the Corbetts, Grahams, Donalds, Munro Tops and Furths (3000-foot peaks in England, Ireland and Wales). He is married with two daughters and lives near Dundee on Scotland's sunny east coast.

Alan's debut book, Moonwalker: Adventures of a Midnight Mountaineer, was published by BackPage Press in 2014 and can be purchased via Amazon. The follow-up, A Mountain Before Breakfast, came out in 2016, and the third, Mountains of the Moon, in 2019 to complete the trilogy. He recently launched a new ebook series, the Moonwalker Chronicles.
